Casa Migliaca is reached normally from the northern coast of Sicily.
On the highway A20 Messina-Palermo if you come from Palermo exit at Tusa, if you come from Messina exit at S. Stefano di Camastra. Between these two exit at km 160.700 there is a junction to Pettineo – Castel di Lucio. There are also interesting roads that cross the mountains southward / northward to/from the center of Sicily, an interesting ride by itself. However, please consult carefully a good map before attempting to take it.
You can fly either Palermo Punta Raisi airport (~ 130 km) or to Catania Fontanarossa airport (~200 km) or to Trapani aiport (~190 km From any of these airports you can use public transportation or hire a car in order to reach Pettineo. See appropriate section.
Sicily being an island, it is obvious that you can sail to it.
Even when traveling by car or by train you will have to cross the Messina Straits. A colossal bridge has been in the making for the last 50 years, but building hasn’t started yet. Also there are regular lines connecting the main Italian and Mediterranean ports with such Sicilian ports as Palermo, Messina, Milazzo, Catania, Siracusa, Mazara del Vallo, Marsala and Trapani. Which one depends on where you come from or where you are headed to. If you sail your own boat, Cefalù is the nearest touristic port. Your traveling plans will need to be arranged according to the port where you’ll land choosing between public transportation or hire a car.
The railway station nearest to Pettineo is Tusa, on the line connecting Messina and Palermo, 7 km from Casa Migliaca. You can arrive to Tusa either from Palermo or from Messina, Catania, Siracusa, using local trains. More trains will stop at S. Stefano di Camastra (20 km from Pettineo) There is a bus service from the railway stations (Tusa or S. Stefano di Camastra) to Pettineo, but generally only in the early morning or late afternoon, in coincidence with student needs. When taking the bus, ask the driver to stop at the Casa Migliaca gate. Otherwise call Casa Migliaca and we will endeavour to have somebody come and pick you up at the station.
